Itinerary
Meet your private guide at your accommodation and begin the journey from Reykjavík to the Golden Circle.
A short hike across open countryside leads to Helgufoss, a peaceful waterfall surrounded by basalt cliffs and mountain scenery. With relatively few visitors, it’s one of the quieter stops on the day.
Þórufoss plunges into a narrow basalt canyon and is best known for its appearance in Game of Thrones. Just a short walk from the parking area, it makes an easy stop before continuing to Þingvellir.
Explore Þingvellir National Park, where Iceland’s first parliament was established and the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates continue to drift apart. We then head to the P3 parking lot at the park, where you enjoy a scenic walk through a valley that leads to Öxarárfoss, one of the park’s best-known waterfalls.
Famous for its remarkably blue water, Brúarfoss is one of Iceland’s most photographed waterfalls. A short walk from the parking area brings you to the river’s striking turquoise cascades.
Walk among steaming vents and bubbling hot springs before watching Strokkur erupt every few minutes, sending boiling water up to 30 metres into the air. This is one of Iceland’s most active geothermal areas.
Gullfoss is one of Iceland’s most powerful waterfalls, where the glacial river Hvítá plunges into a dramatic canyon in two stages. Several viewpoints offer different perspectives of the falls and surrounding landscape.
The last stop before heading back to Reykjavík. Located on the Tungufljót River, Faxi forms a broad curtain of water stretching across the river. A fish ladder beside the waterfall allows salmon to continue upstream during the summer months, adding a unique feature to the visit.
Relax on the drive back to Reykjavík and arrive at your accommodation.
